About Me
Janelle Couture was born in Hackensack, NJ, and lived most of her childhood there. Having grown up in the desert (Phoenix), it is all the while true – you can take the girl out of east coast, but you can’t take the east coast out of the girl. Janelle is a Jersey girl through and through. Italian, Puerto Rican, and a Taurus would mean she can a. talk someone’s head off, b. knock someone’s head off, and c. cook; not an entirely bad combination to inspire a writer. Janelle is practical, her outlook on life is sensible – and gets where she’s going; not because she is exceptionally fast or clever, but because she won’t be distracted from her goals. She’s witty, and stubborn – which gives her a bit of a competitive edge in surroundings which require it. Often opinionated and one that shoots-from-the-hip; she has the candor for a good, sassy, writer.
Janelle has been writing since the age of eight about anything and everything. Starting with poetry, and later to creative writing and blogging, Janelle has been inspired by true-life events and ups and downs of motherhood and beyond. She is serious, silly, down-to-earth, and sometimes analyzes and over-analyzes the woes that come in and out of her life. She loves most writing about being a woman who loves life, the places she goes, and the people in it. There is never a dull moment in the eyes of a thirty-something in Los Angeles.
Janelle has long been a consultant in higher education, teaching at the collegiate level, and seeking the ultimate writer’s dream. She finds humor amidst the craziness of life, appreciates the finer things, and doesn’t take herself or the people around her too seriously. Most of all, she believes it’s possible to go after life-long dreams, be happy, and enjoy life– all at the same time. She may not have all the answers or do the balancing act so gracefully, but at the end of the day…she’s going to write about it...and make it look good.
Janelle holds a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Communication from Arizona State University and a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from The University of Phoenix.
